New Akure Kingdom extended an olive branch to all parties aggrieved



.The new monarch of Akure Kingdom, Oba KoleAladetoyinbo, has extended an olive branch to all parties aggrieved to the stool of the Deji.

He said he was ready to join hands with the people of the ancient city in his determination to promote peace and tranquility.

Oba Aladetoyinbo, the Odundun II, stated this on Tuesday, shortly after he was presented with the staff of office and instrument of appointment, at the governor’s office, in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

He ?said his reign would encourage participatory traditional government, within Akure kingdom and her various component towns.

The monarch also stressed that the Deji traditional institution is an important agent of meaningful development.

?”I wish to humbly express my hands of fellowship to all my co-contestants to join me and the entire Akure people, old and young, to move our community forward as the stool belongs to all of us. We were all born by the same progenitor ofOsupa ruling family.

“My dear people of Akure kingdom, it is my determination as the Deji of Akure to profoundly promote peace, respect for the constituted authority and the traditional institution of our emerging millennium city of Akure”, he said.

He promised that the youths, under his reign, would be intellectually trained, through self-empowerment programme, ?to complement the effort of the state and local government, in making life comfortable for the people of Akure.

The monarch, who became the 47th King of the ancient town, however, called on the state government to please assist his kingdom by urgently initiating programmes and developmental projects.

Earlier, the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, revealed that the present administration on board, cannot pretend not to know the aspiration and yearning of the people of Akure for a new monarch.

Represented by his deputy, Lasisi Oluboyo, ?said that the emergence of the new monarch, after the demise of Oba AdebiyiAdegboyeAdesida, three years ago, marks the beginning of a new era, in the history of the ancient town of Akure.

He maintained that the process, which brought in PinceAladetoyinbo, as the new Deji, conforms with the guidelines of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Oba Aladelusi? was born into the Osupa Ruling House on the 28th December, 1956, and is the great-grand son of Oba AladelusiOdudun, the paramount ruler of Akure Kingdom in 1882.

His father, late Chief AladetoyinboOgunlade was also the late Olu of AlayereAkure.

His academic sojourn started at St Patrick School, Aponmu, between 1950 and 1956, before proceeding to Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, between 1969 and 1973.

In his quest to get the best for his tertiary education, Oba Aladelusi travelled out of the country to Florida International University, Miami, Florida USA, between 1977 and 1981, where he bagged a B.Sc. in Architecture.

He then proceeded to Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, USA for his M.sc in Architecture between 1981 and 1984.
