Prempeh College gets new GH¢38,000.00 basketball court
Kumasi, Jan. 30, GNA – A new basketball court built for Prempeh College in Kumasi at a cost of GH ¢38,000.00 has been inaugurated.
The sporting facility was funded by a couple, Nana and Dr (Mrs) Theresa Nana Akrasi, whose child is a student of the school.
Inaugurating the facility, the couple said it was their contribution towards the promotion of sports and good health in the school.
Dr (Mrs) Nana Akrasi, a Paediatrician at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital, said it was important for parents to be interested in helping to unearth and develop sporting talents of their children.
She urged parents to team up with teachers to assist their children and wards to fully exploit their God-given talents and skills.
The Headmaster of Prempeh College, Mr Emmanuel Kwabena Yeboah said sports’ was an integral part of the school’s activities of which basketball was an important part.
He said the new facility would tremendously help improve the level of play of basketball in the school and the Ashanti Region.
Prempeh College came second in the national “Sprite Basketball Competition” held in Accra in 2010 but dropped to the forth position, last year.
Mr Yeboah used the occasion to appeal to parents to assist the school to tackle other problems being faced in the school including inadequate accommodation and toilets facilities.
He expressed the gratitude of the students and teachers of the school to the couple for the gesture and encouraged other parents to emulate their example.
