The Reverend Gideon Populampu, Director of the Ramseyer Training Centre, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Abetifi in the Eastern Region, has asked new ministers of the Church to help clear fallacies about the teachings of Jesus Christ.

“We live in an age where some supposed men of God claim they are teaching the word of God but many of those teachings are adulterated, blatant lies, fallacy and misinterpretations of the scripture.

“To learn right is to commit to the teachings of Christ. Make every necessary effort to learn, study and resource yourself to show yourself approved and be able to explain the word to humanity with the intervention of the Holy Spirit,” he said.

Rev Populampu gave the advice when the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana commissioned 28 new Ministers of the Church who had completed various honours at the Trinity Theological Seminary in Accra and gave them license to operate in the name of the Church.

As they took their first assignments, the Director admonished them to heed the counsel of the Senior Ministers in humility to be guarded to serve better.

“There’s the tendency that those who are coming into ministry would think they know it all because they can speak and preach. That is not the case, make yourselves humble enough so the Holy Spirit can explain to you what you don’t understand or remind you what you learnt and forget,” he added.

Rev Populampu said the journey would come with issues, problems, challenges and from places they least expected, however, he asked them to focus on God to be their guide.

“For this world is rough and rubble so the only thing that cause us to keep going is the peace of the Lord,” he added.

Speaking on the use of social media, he entreated the ministers to ensure that they led their congregations and young ones to use the platforms responsibly.

The new ministers pledged to be diligent, prayerful and study the Bible and asked for God’s guidance.
They also pledged to discharge their duties, preach only Christ, administer the sacrament, and support the poor, sick and weak in the Church and society at large.
