For failing to live up to the expectations of his kinsmen, a group has emerged from President Goodluck Jonathan?s Niger Delta region with a threat to frustrate any efforts of the President towards a re-election in 2015.
The group Niger Delta Elders Forum stated in a statement that unless the President takes deliberate steps to develop the region, any dream of coming back to the exalted office after his first tenure would be a mirage.
Signed by its chairman Etubong Duke and Secretary Nelson Baribote, the forum noted that the region is now faced with greater micro- economic problems than ever before.
They regretted that the confidence the region reposed on the President in the past as having the capacity to address such developmental issues is now being eroded by glaring facts that Jonathan seems not to grasp the magnitude of the sufferings facing the people.
?We wish to state however that this time around , Niger Deltans will not be fooled to vote for Jonathan unless he takes practical steps to address our developmental challenges in the region without prejudice to other areas,? the group said.
