The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of German coach Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
Labbadia, 58, will lead the team into a crucial phase of their journey, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The decision follows a rigorous selection process and unsuccessful negotiations with potential candidates Janne Andersson and Herve Renard.
Although a formal contract is yet to be finalized, the anticipation is high as Labbadia is set to manage Nigeria in their forthcoming qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
Other candidates considered for the role included Gustavo Poyet, Aitor Karanka, and Fabio Cannavaro.
Labbadia’s appointment comes as Nigeria, the runners-up of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, aims to qualify for the 2024 tournament in Morocco and secure the title.
