The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 204 new cases of COVID-19, the highest number reported in a day, bringing the total in the country to 1,932.
A total of 58 people have died from the novel coronavirus while 319 have recovered, the NCDC said in an update issued late Thursday.
The populous northern state of Kano recorded 80 new cases, and the surge brought its total number of cases to 219, only second to Lagos with 976 cases.
The 204 new cases nationwide are the highest reported in a day since Feb. 27, when the country reported its first confirmed case.
According to the NCDC, Nigeria now has 1,555 active cases of COVID-19. Enditem
