The Ekiti State Government on Monday warned that it would penalise owners of houses built without toilet facilities.

The Chairman of the state Waste Management Authority, Chief Adebayo Morakinyo and the Director of the state Environmental Services, Mr. Tunde Balogun, gave the warning.
According to them, the refusal of many landlords in the state, especially those in Ado-Ekiti, to provide toilet facilities in their houses is inimical to the Safe Environment Agenda of the state

The government functionaries reminded the residents that operation ?one house, one toilet? had already taken off in the state. They warned that any house owner that refused to comply with the policy would be treated as a saboteur.

“I am telling you that no fewer than 76 houses have so far been charged to court on account of their refusal to attach toilet facilities to their houses,? Balogun said.

Adebayo also warned that anyone caught violating the policy would be regarded as “testing the will of government”.

“When a landlord suddenly decides to build a house and puts tenants there without toilets, where does he expect them to defecate?”
