A Nigerian karate tournament will take place this month, as trails are needed for the World Senior Championships in Germany in November.
The Karate Federation of Nigeria has organised the KFN President National Karate Championship that will take place in Ilorin from March 26-30.
“Athletes who emerge from the Ilorin competition will later be called for national camping in preparation for the WKF World Senior Championships in Germany,’ confirmed vice president and technical committee chairman of the federation, Emmanuel Metu.
“The Ilorin competition is sponsored by the president, Agu Ejidike, and we hope to invite as many as possible for camping.”
However, the size of the team going to Germany is not yet finalised as there are still aspects around funding that need to be worked out.
“We hope to take a full team to Germany, but the funds we have then will determine the final number we take to the competition,” concluded Metu.
