A pilgrim from Kano was robbed of his basic travel allowance amounting to about N200,000 by two suspected thieves while he was going to the mosque in Medina.
Narrating his predicament, the victim, Ibrahim Sani, told Daily Trust that he decided to walk to the mosque around 4am last Thursday when the thieves who were in a car accosted him.
?As I was walking on the sidewalk, two young men pulled and parked in front of me and offered to take me there. Thinking it was a taxicab, I gladly entered the vehicle which zoomed off immediately?, he recalled.
?But when we reached a junction leading to the mosque, the driver stopped the vehicle and told me he would not proceed to the mosque. He demanded for his payment of two riyals (N100).
As I pulled out the notes from my pocket which were a combination of both United States dollars and riyals worth N200,000 to make the payment, the other guy snatched the notes from my hands and pushed me out of the car whose door was already opened.
The men subsequently disappeared and left me screaming for help on the quiet boulevard?, he said. –Daily Trust.
