Nigerian police on Friday said it arrested more than 600 suspected criminals in the last seven days in southern city of Warri in Delta State.
Divisional police commander Anietie Eyoh said the onslaught was to rid the Warri division of criminals, noting that all black spots in the area be rid of criminals.
Many of the suspects had been freed after thorough questioning, while some had been arraigned, the police officer told reporters, adding that some of those arrested were cultists and armed robbers.
The officer said others were in custody for further investigation.
There have been reports of criminal activities in Warri, ranging from house-to-house robbery to snatching of cars, mobile phones and robbing bank customers. Enditem
