Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and the United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday had a phone conversation to discuss the latest developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Nigerian government said.
“President Buhari used the opportunity to brief the American president on the steps that Nigeria is taking to contain the spread of the disease,” the government announced in a statement.
The phone conversation was at the request of the American president.
On his part, President Trump assured that the U.S. stands in solidarity with Nigeria in this difficult time.
According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, a total of 1,337 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in Nigeria as of Monday. Out of the figure, 40 deaths have been recorded in the most populous African country so far. Enditem
