dpa/GNA – Unknown perpetrators who broke into a supermarket in Germany had a candlelit picnic before taking off with their loot, police said on Friday.
On Thursday morning, an employee informed police about a break-in at a supermarket in Bielefeld in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers discovered that the night before the perpetrators had set up tea lights, as well as enjoying soft drinks, sweets and chips before taking off with their loot.
The scenario was reminiscent of a “picnic,” police said.
According to initial findings, the perpetrators stole prepaid cards for cell phones and cigarettes before leaving the store. It remains unclear how the perpetrators gained access to the supermarket.
