The Ghana Maritime and Shipping Maiden Awards has been organized by Ninetyeightz Events, with the aim of identifying and recognizing outstanding key players who have contributed enormously to the maritime industry.
It is obvious, that the Maritime and Shipping Sector has played a major role in building Ghana’s economy; but sadly enough the key players in this industry have not been awarded for their outstanding performance.
It is in this regard,Ninetyeightz Events, took a giant step to award these key players in order to motivate them to work assiduously and also improve their service delivery.
The award for the first time, identified outstanding performers and contributors to the country’s maritime industry, at the institutional , enterprise and individuals as well.
In his welcome address, the Chief Executive and Events Director of Ninetyeightz, Events Bergis Kojo Frimpong, said the Maritime and Shipping awards was also aimed at creating the needed platform for all the stakeholders to further interact and also share ideas on how to promote the maritime industry.
Since networking would also help in facilitating the growth of the maritime industry.
According to him, their Aviation Awards which organized last year really inspired with a positive feedback.
This little stride inspired us to keep on identifying the various sectors that continue to contribute significantly to the development of the nation.
“In deserving individuals and companies operating in Ghana’s maritime industry, the consultants and the Final Award Panel gave consideration to:
•Entries from companies after the award nominations advertisement , and who submitted the required information and data on their operational activities .
•Local content i.e. local companies who submitted entries for the various categories
•Evidence of industry excellence by companies’ activities , and their capacity for delivery quality services.
•Encouragement to small and medium companies in the maritime and shipping sector who are making giant strides in their respect operations.
•And the recognition of industry players- personalities , organizations and companies by the Final Award Panel, who have made significant contributions to Ghana’s Maritime and Shipping Industry from inception of date.
The Vice Chancellor of Regional Maritime University Prof. Elvis Nyarko, commended Ninetyeightz Events, for initiating the maiden Ghana Maritime and Shipping Awards 2017.
According to him,education and training plays a pivotal role in the success of the maritime industry of every economy as it produces the requisite manpower needed to steer it. It is against this background that the role played by the Regional Maritime University cannot be underestimated.
The award categories include: Port & Terminal of the Year, Ship Owner/Operator of the Year, Marine Industry Supplier of the Year, Shipping Company of the Year, Terminal Operator of the Year, Marine Broker of the Year, Ship Manager of the Year, Shipyard/Ship Repair Facility of the Year and Ship Agency of the Tear.
