Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has been invited to the Nigeria Police Force headquarters for questioning related to several serious allegations, including criminal defamation, cyberbullying, forgery, and falsehood.
The invitation, issued by the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit, is part of an ongoing investigation into these charges.
The invitation letter, dated August 5, 2024, was signed by A A Elleman, head of the IGP Monitoring Unit.
It stated that Dikeh’s name appeared prominently in the investigation.
The letter requested her attendance at an interview with SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on August 7, 2024, to provide further details regarding the allegations.
Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed that the actress was invited following a petition lodged against her.
He clarified that while Dikeh had been questioned, she had been released, and the investigation is still underway.
Adejobi emphasized that the invitation was procedural in addressing the petition’s claims.
Dikeh’s involvement in this case highlights ongoing issues of defamation and cyberbullying in Nigeria, reflecting broader concerns about the impact of social media and public figures in the digital age.
