Namibia’s northern regions of Zambezi and Kunene have been hard hit by an anthrax outbreak, which has killed over 100 cattle, the government said on Monday.

Both the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry and the Ministry of Health and Social Services released a joint statement acknowledging the outbreak which affected farmers.

Ministry of Agriculture Executive Director Percy Misika said the government has deployed an emergency team to contain the situation.

The Ministry of Health warns people from the affected areas against eating cows that could have died from the infection. Enditem
