ATHENS — A new round of protests and strikes started on Monday in Greece ahead of the voting on the next set of bailout prerequisites in the parliament later in the week to unlock further vital loans to the debt-laden economy.
About 2,000 students from public high schools, according to police estimates, held a rally in central Athens to protest against shortages of teachers and books, while similar protests were organized in other cities nationwide.(Greek-Rally)

GHAZNI, Afghanistan — Conflict between security forces and Taliban outfit claimed the lives of two militants and injured three others outside Ghazni city on Monday, provincial governor Mohammad Aman Hamim said.
“The clash erupted in Qala-e-Qazi neighborhood outside provincial capital Ghazni city Monday morning but the militants, after suffering casualties fled away,” Hamim told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Taliban-Attack)

BEIRUT — Two soldiers were killed overnight when an Army Intelligence unit raided a nightclub north of Beirut, the National News Agency (NNA) reported Monday.
Six civilians were also killed in the operation to apprehend “wanted criminals” in the coastal town of Maameltein, NAA said.

JERUSALEM — Israeli troops shot two knife-wielding Palestinians on Monday morning, killing one of them and wounding the other, after the two allegedly tried to stab a soldier at a checkpoint in West Bank, police said.
Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said the incident occurred as the suspects, armed with knives, arrived at the Jalameh checkpoint, west of the Palestinian city of Jenin.(Israel-Palestinians-Violence)

BEIJING — The Russian aircraft, which crashed over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula on Saturday, reportedly disintegrated in midair and Russia has held a series of mourning events for victims of the disaster.
Egypt’s state-run newspaper Ahram quoted an official with Russia’s Interstate Aviation Committee as saying the disintegration happened in the air and fragments are strewn over a large area. (Russia-Air Crash) Enditem
