Some members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party ( NPP) in the Akim Swedru Constituency of the Eastern Region have threatened to forfeit the seat by voting against the NPP current MP, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko should delegates elect him as the parliamentary candidate for the 2024 election.
According to the supporters , the performance of the MP for almost 12 years now is nothing to write home and a recipe for doom if elected to represent the elephant again. They chastise him of lack of developmental and social foresight having demonstrated insensitivity to the needs of the constituents during his three terms as the Member of Parliament .
They notice among other developmental deficit such as deplorable road network, poor market infrastructure, absence of public place of convenience/ sanitation facilities which are gravely affecting the Akim Swedru community, and of which no priority is attached . The supporters therefore call on the delegates to elect Mr. Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, the Controller and Accountant General to rescue the constituency in their primary having vowed to vote skirt and blouse if the current MP becomes the PC again.
According to them, Mr. Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem had intervened so much in the constituency in areas of education, health , employment and road to mention but few. In area of education the party faithfuls said Mr. Bosompem has gone to the aid of the Swedru SHS and construction of 12- unit classroom blocks for a number of vicinities across the constituency. Having recognized the terrible road network in the constituency , the Controller has started constructing the road linking Aporah Ningo to other communities to ease burdens in transportation. A number of interventions in health and sanitation having been identified are addressed by the controller as the supporters believe such an individual with better foresight would benefit the constituents.
Meanwhile market women at the Akim Swedru elaborate that, the MP since his assumption has refused to attend to their plights and needs. They said the cirrent state of the Akim Swedru market where they trade is a disgrace and has no correlation to the image of the constituency name. The women at the market also accuse the MP of denying them loan facility to injection into their business.
