NPP Expresses worry over Voters Registration Exhibition

In a press release this evening noting ?with deep disquiet and concern? how the whole exercise has gone so far. Explained that?an ?exercise of this magnitude and importance necessarily ought to have been proceeded by wide consultations with political parties and other stakeholders?.??The General Secretary noted that the inability or unwillingness of the EC to have properly involved and consulted with all stakeholder accounts for the low levels of public awareness and education about this important exercise.?

The General Secretary, Mr. Kwabena A. Agyepong?s signed release regretted that just like other stakeholders, the NPP received its register days after the exercise began and that?the nature and form in which these registers were delivered required time to get same to their officers on the ground. ?Reports from exhibition centers across the country also confirm low patronage coupled with several challenges and short comings such as the distortion of particulars of voters, the deletion of some particulars and several other errors?.

The statement urged all voters and the general public to take a keen interest in the exercise, visiting the various exhibition centers to check their particulars or to report the death of persons on the register, report on the inclusion of minors, foreigners and all persons unqualified to be on the voters roll. NPP particularly ask for the assistance of local chiefs and opinion leaders to assist and volunteer information on these matters.

In the spirit of volunteerism, selflessness and sacrifice which are key attributes of the NPP, the party appeals to all executives of the party especially at the polling station level to take turns to monitor the exercise for the remaining days, adhering strictly to the operational directives which have been issued earlier. The party remains grateful to all our gallant polling executives who continue to sacrifice in the interest of the party and country the statement concluded.
