Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Majority Leader of the Ghanaian Parliament, has asserted that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) newly launched manifesto represents the future of Ghana, in contrast to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
After the manifesto launch in Takoradi, Afenyo-Markin emphasized the NPP’s superior track record in implementing pro-poor policies compared to its rivals.
Afenyo-Markin acknowledged the current difficulties under the NPP administration but defended the party’s performance, attributing recent challenges to broader economic conditions rather than any governance failures.
He highlighted the transformative programs introduced during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s tenure, asserting that the NPP’s policies are better suited to address Ghana’s needs than those proposed by the NDC.
“This manifesto represents the hope for the future of Ghana,” Afenyo-Markin said. “It is anchored on the track record of the eight years of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
We are better off implementing transformative policies than our opponents can offer.
Ghanaians have faced tough times, but our record starkly contrasts that of the NDC, which has failed to present any new or visionary solutions.”
He urged NPP members and supporters to unite and work diligently to secure electoral victory, underscoring the importance of party solidarity.
President Akufo-Addo called on all party members to vigorously promote the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh ticket for the upcoming elections.
He expressed optimism about Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s prospects and urged supporters to campaign tirelessly to ensure victory on December 7.
Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate, reflected on the past two years of global economic challenges, including high inflation and rising living costs.
Despite these issues, he pointed to signs of recovery and improvement in Ghana’s economy, including a reduction in inflation and positive GDP growth. He reiterated the NPP’s commitment to continuing economic reforms and job creation.
“Our track record is superior to that of my opponent,” Bawumia declared, defending the NPP’s response to economic difficulties. “We are committed to further job creation and alleviating the cost of living for Ghanaians.”
Bawumia criticized the NDC for its past failures and contrasted them with the NPP’s achievements, positioning the party as the better choice for Ghana’s future. He urged voters to choose continuity and progress over a return to past challenges.
“Follow who knows the road,” Bawumia said, emphasizing his belief in the NPP’s proven ability to navigate the country towards a brighter future.
