According to Salam Mustapha, the party’s national youth organizer, Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is dedicated to ensuring that Nation Builders Corps (NaBCO) trainees receive the arrears owed to them.

At a press conference, Mustapha emphasized that NaBCO was introduced as a temporary solution to combat rising unemployment in Ghana.

“When we came into office, the Unemployed Graduates Association was a pressing issue, with about 100,000 graduates entering the job market each year.

Ignoring this could pose a national security threat,” he said, referencing the unrest seen during the Arab Spring in 2011.

He added that the government recognized the need for decisive action to address youth unemployment upon taking office.

Under the NaBCO initiative, 100,000 young people were engaged for three years, with over 30,000 participants securing permanent employment. Mustapha acknowledged the challenge of unpaid arrears, which are approximately nine months.

“I have personally discussed this with NaBCO leadership and escalated it to higher authorities.

The flagbearer is aware of the situation and has raised it with the Ministry of Finance. I am confident we will find a resolution,” he stated.

Mustapha also urged support for the NPP to retain power, reiterating the party’s commitment to creating two million jobs during its first term in office.
