Voting is currently in progress to select a parliamentary candidate for Manyhia South, following the elevation of Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh to the position of running mate, which has left the parliamentary seat vacant.

A significant number of five hundred sixty-eight delegates participated in the primary, where four candidates vied for the nomination, underscoring the scale and importance of the event.

Prof. Smart Sarpong’s science and data research has projected Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah as the frontrunner in the Manyhia South NPP parliamentary primary. According to Sarpong’s survey, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah is expected to secure at least 70% of the delegates’ votes.

Competing alongside Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah are Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, the Manhyia South Constituency Treasurer and biological brother of Dr. Opoku Prempeh, and Akwasi Coker Gyambibi. Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, known for his financial acumen and community development initiatives, is running on a platform of economic growth and social welfare. Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, a seasoned politician with a focus on education and youth empowerment, is also in the race.

The primary election is crucial in determining Dr Opoku Prempeh’s successor, and the winner, who is likely to play a significant role in the upcoming parliamentary elections, is eagerly anticipated.
