Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has sought the support of the Paramount Chief of Agogo, Nana Akuoko Sarpong.
This appeal came during a courtesy call on the Agogomanhene at his Royal Palace in Agogo.
Dr. Prempeh, actively touring the country, is focusing on strengthening ties between the NPP and traditional authorities.
His visit aims to build relationships, seek advice, and emphasize the party’s commitment to effective governance in collaboration with traditional leaders.
During the visit, Dr. Prempeh highlighted the significant role of the Agogo state in developing Asanteman and Ghana.
He expressed the NPP’s desire for continued support and blessings from the traditional leadership, emphasizing the party’s respect for traditional authorities.
The Omanhene acknowledged that while chiefs are not required to engage directly in politics, they can guide politicians to act in the best interest of Ghanaians.
He indicated that traditional leaders should encourage political parties to prioritize national interests.
Dr. Prempeh reiterated the NPP’s vision of maintaining a solid partnership with traditional authorities, noting that such relationships are crucial for national development.
He appealed to the traditional leaders to support the NPP’s vision and ensure its continued leadership to advance the country’s progress.
