Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo
DR CHARLES Wereko Brobby seems to have ruffled feathers in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in his latest political outburst in which he sought to question the party?s decision to use Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party?s Vice Presidential candidate in the 2012 general elections as a star witness in the ongoing hearing of the election petition.
Yesterday party gurus descended heavily on the engineer and former boss of the Volta River Authority (VRA) virtually giving him an ?avalanche of snake beating?.
While some asked him to back off, other hardliners such as ex-Member of Parliament (MP) for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa Constituency in the Central Region, Paul Collins Appiah-Ofori described him in unprintable words.
He warned the media not to call him over issues concerning Wereko Brobby, who equally does not shy away from speaking his mind.
Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby
In his latest epistle, ?On the face of the pink sheets or at the heart of the matter,? Dr Wereko Brobby, also known as Tarzan, who was Chief Executive Officer of the [email protected] celebrations, said the filing of petition to challenge the outcome of the presidential elections in court was nothing but a waste of time and described Dr Bawumia as a ?clueless? witness.
This has compelled leading members of the party, including NPP General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, to descend heavily on him describing his views as baseless and illogical.
Apart from scoffing at Dr Wereko Brobby?s claims which he also described as sickening, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, affectionately called Sir John, said his frustration in politics was getting the better part of him, attributing some of the woes of the party to him.
He did not consider Tarzan as a memberof the party since no serious party member of the NPP would object to a collective decision taken by the National Executive Council of the party.
The NPP General Secretary advised Dr Wereko Brobby to focus his energies on removing the skeleton in his cupboard before they came out to haunt him.
Former National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Anthony Abayifa Karbo also described the former [email protected] boss as an ?NDC mole? priding himself as a leading NPP member.
According to Karbo, the NPP was bigger than personalities and that Dr. Wereko Brobby?s continuous reference to the late Victor Owusu as his uncle was neither here nor there.
?If Wereko Brobby decides he is no more interested in the party and has joined another party or is working for another president, he can go ahead and leave us alone,? he told Citi FM.
?We, the grassroots members, are fed up with the likes of Wereko Brobby and by this notice we are sending a very strong indication to him to stay out of our issues and stay out of our party or else we will deal with him mercilessly.?
A statement issued by the Young Patriots said, ?His continues maligning of party executives, especially his latest insults of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he thinks he will be pitching against in 2016 is but a wrong attempt to seek attention.?
They have since cautioned him not to bother Nana Addo and Dr Bawumia. Although Dr Wereko Brobby declined to speak to DAILY GUIDE when contacted, he was to have deflated claims that he was not an NPP member.
?I will never flee from the party, never! Some of them are rather saying I am not part of the party but that is impossible; those saying I?m not a member should tell me their standing in the party and what success they have been able to chalk for the party,? he was quoted as saying on Asempa FM.
He said ?some of these small boys don?t even pay their dues but keep talking anyhow.?
He therefore asked the leadership of the party to be truthful if they wanted to win the 2016 presidential election and start campaigning.
