Sule Salifu-Northern Regional Secretary of NPP
The Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sule Salifu has branded executives who are going about selling application forms to unsuspecting members of the party for District Chief Executive (DCE) posts as criminals.
According to him, the regional and national secretariat of the party is not aware of such a move and has appealed to persons who have fallen victim to such moves to report the characters to the police in order to have them arrested.
“We have not issued any directive or given out any application forms. This is the first time I am hearing of such a thing and it amounts to thievery. Victims must immediately report such executives to the regional secretariat for the necessary action”, he told ultimatefmonline.com in an exclusive interview.
There have reports of some constituency executives cashing on the desire of some persons to become DCEs in making money between GH¢ 200 and GH¢250 under the guise of the amount being used as processing fees.
But Mr Sule Salifu said the said constituency executives are doing so in their own volition and not received any backing of his office warning that once they are caught, they would dealt with as pure criminals and not party persons.
“We do not even have a substantive local government minister who will have oversight responsibility over MMDCEs. Why will people be this criminally minded that they can go about extorting monies promising others DCE positions when they have no such authority”, he asked.
