Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the campaign spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has defended the NPP’s preparedness, reassuring the audience of the party’s capabilities.

He has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama for his comments regarding a recent media encounter held by Bawumia.

Aboagye dismissed Mahama’s claims that the media event on August 25 was a deliberate attempt to overshadow the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto launched the previous day, reiterating the NPP’s criticism of the NDC’s manifesto.

Mahama had suggested that the timing of Bawumia’s media encounter was a strategic move to divert attention from the NDC manifesto.

He also alleged that Bawumia’s performance during the encounter revealed a lack of preparedness, citing what he described as Bawumia’s “stammering posture.

In response, Aboagye took to social media to address Mahama’s remarks. “If your manifesto is empty, it’s empty.

No one needs to do anything to cover it up. If it were severe, Ghanaians would discuss it extensively.

Who takes seriously a manifesto that proposes 24-hour nightclubs or suggests people should queue at 2 a.m. for passports? Aboagye wrote on Facebook.

He further questioned Mahama’s motives, suggesting that the timing of the NDC manifesto launch was an attempt to counter the NPP’s earlier launch.

“You announced your manifesto a week after ours. Was it meant to cover up ours? You have been in opposition for eight years and in office for over a year before Dr Bawumia.

Yet, you waited for his announcement and scheduled yours six days later. Was it intended to overshadow his launch? Aboagye asked.

Aboagye also criticized Mahama for allegedly attempting to compete with Bawumia’s campaign activities.

“You chose to campaign in Accra today after Dr Bawumia’s campaign in the same city yesterday. Are you here to cover his campaign? he asked.

Aboagye concluded by urging Mahama to focus on presenting substantive ideas, engaging the audience and making them interested in the NPP’s vision. He discouraged what he described as petty tactics, Encouraging a focus on the real issues.
