Fifi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly dismantling a robust economy that the NDC left behind.
Speaking at the launch of the NDC’s 2024 manifesto on August 24 at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Auditorium, University of Education, Winneba, Kwetey asserted that the previous NDC administration had bequeathed an economy with significant assets, including two oil fields and a thriving manufacturing sector.
Kwetey accused the NPP of destroying these achievements and claiming they inherited a deteriorating economy.
“Promoting initiatives like ‘one village, one dam’ without the necessary capacity is deception,” he said.
He emphasized that the NDC’s policies are rooted in principles, including truth and respect for the people. “We left behind a strong manufacturing sector, two oil fields, and a vibrant cocoa sector,” he added.
National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi echoed Kwetey’s remarks, asserting that the NDC has a superior track record that Ghanaians have been misled about.
Gyamfi claimed that the current administration has squandered the resources and opportunities inherited from the previous government. “The NDC has unmatched track records,” he declared.
Minority Chief Whip Kwame Agbodza outlined that the 2024 NDC manifesto will address critical issues such as corruption, state capture, and job creation.
Agbodza emphasized that the manifesto aims to tackle the problems allegedly caused by the NPP government.
He told TV3 before the launch that the manifesto would focus on corruption, state capture, and job creation.
The manifesto launch was attended by NDC Flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, members of the National Executive Committee, the Council of Elders, Members of Parliament, Parliamentary Candidates, and distinguished guests from various sectors, including the Diplomatic Corps, Clergy, Civil Society Organizations, Academia, Labour Organizations, and the Creative Arts. The event featured discussions on the NDC’s vision for transforming Ghana and its plans for the future.
