Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), strongly supports the healthcare vision outlined in the party’s 2024 manifesto, led by flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Ahiagbah’s endorsement is grounded in his personal experiences with Ghana’s healthcare system and his belief in the proposed policies’ transformative potential.

In a statement posted on his X platform on August 19, Ahiagbah highlighted several key initiatives from Dr Bawumia’s manifesto that he believes would significantly enhance healthcare outcomes for Ghanaians:

Completion of Agenda 111 Hospitals: Ensuring that every district has a hospital.

Recruitment of Healthcare Professionals: Increasing the number of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff with improved conditions of service.

Digitization of Healthcare Institutions: Finalizing the E-health project to modernize public healthcare facilities.

Expansion of Telehealth Services: Enhancing remote healthcare access.

Medical Drone Delivery Sites: Establishing new sites at Funsi and Kintampo to expand drone coverage for medical supplies.

Interoperability of National Electronic Pharmacy Platform (NEPP): Integrating with both public and private healthcare facilities.

Incentives for Healthcare Workers: Providing benefits for purchasing vehicles with up to 1,800cc engine capacity.

Compliance with Deprived Area Incentive Packages: Enforcing existing incentives for health workers in underserved areas.

Ahiagbah is confident that these initiatives will alleviate pressure on tertiary hospitals like Komfo Anokye by increasing the number of well-equipped hospitals and improving healthcare worker recruitment and motivation.

He believes these measures will improve healthcare services and outcomes for Ghanaians across all districts.

In urging healthcare workers to support Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming December 7, 2024 election, Ahiagbah emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to healthcare reform represents a significant opportunity for improvement.

His endorsement underscores a broader appeal to middle-class Ghanaians, professionals, and the general electorate, stressing that Dr. Bawumia’s vision for healthcare aligns with the needs and expectations of the Ghanaian populace.

Ahiagbah concluded his statement with a call to action for voters: “Health is wealth, and Dr. Bawumia is committed to prioritizing the Health of Ghanaians.

Vote Bawumia for quality, accessible, and improved healthcare outcomes for you and your family. A vote for Bawumia is a vote for your Health.”
