Sammi Awuku, the New Patriotic Party (According to local reports,) Parliamentary Candidate for Akuapem North, has purportedly prompted his National Democratic Congress (NDC) counterpart to withdraw from the constituency, according to local reports.
Nana Yirenkng Akuapem disclosed to the media that the NDC candidate has recently been conspicuously absent from community engagements in Akuapem North, including traditional events like funerals and the Awukudea festival.
“The only sign of the NDC candidate’s presence is through posters on light poles,” Nana Yirenkyi remarked, expressing disappointment in the candidate’s lack of visibility and engagement.
He criticized the NDC’s choice of candidate, suggesting that a more active representative would have been more appropriate for the constituency, especially considering the party’s opposition status.
I noted that the previous NDC candidate, Nana Yirenkyi, had been more involved with the community, contrasting sharply with the current candidate’s perceived detachment.
The Apesemakahene predicted that history might remember the current NDC candidate as one of the least effective in Akuapem North’s electoral history.
Despite significant local support for NDC’s presidential candidate, John Mahama, Nana Yirenkyi I expressed concerns that disillusionment with the parliamentary candidate could impact the party’s performance in the upcoming elections.
The NDC candidate’s reported withdrawal marks a significant development in the Akuapem North constituency, with implications for the forthcoming electoral landscape in the region.
