NUGS ?KNUST Appeals To Lecturers To Call Off Strike

The KNUST branch of the National Union of Ghana Students, NUGS has disagreed with calls by some National Executives to demonstrate in solidarity with their striking lecturers.

The President of NUGS-KNUST, Gilbert Richmond Rockson spoke to Ultimate radio after issuing a statement appealing to the lecturers to return to the lecture halls.

National NUGS had earlier suggested a demonstration in solidarity with striking UTAG members. But students of KNUST will beg to differ. They ?doubt that demonstrating is the way to go?.

The President for NUGS-KNUST is appealing to the striking lecturers to return to the lecture halls and teach. ?This is a national crisis and all well-meaning Ghanaians must direct all appeals to our lectures to return to the classroom since government has exhibited a sense of commitment to address their demands rather than engage in this unending media war?.

He says the strike is throwing the academic calendar into disarray.

National NUGS President, Andrews Gyan, however says the option of demonstrating in solidarity with the striking lecturers is still being considered by NUGS.
