Kwesi Nyantakyi expects local Black Stars to win 2014 CHAN

Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi is expecting the local Black Stars to win the 2014 African Nations Championship in South Africa.

Nyantakyi believes head coach Maxwell Konadu has assembled the best players from the Ghana Premier League to mount a challenge for the title.

Ghana were silver-medalists in the maiden edition held in Ivory Coast in 2009 but could not advance from the Group stage two years later in Sudan.

Nyantakyi is hoping this year?s select band of players can go far.

?I look forward to a good performance this time round we are a candidate to winning the championship and I?m very hopeful that we will win,? Nyantakyi said.

?We have a good team with best players from our domestic league who have been in camp for some time now.

?Maxwell Konadu has done a good job by transforming the team through the WAFU Competition up to this time and we are praying for the team to excel at this competition.

?I have spoken to Maxwell the coach and he has assured me that things are shaping up so we pray things go well for the team.?

Ghana?s home-based national team must first advance from a tough Group comprising Congo, Libya and Ethiopia.
