ADEN, Yemen — The Saudi-backed Yemeni government announced Friday to cut off diplomatic relations with Iran which was accused of supporting the Shiite Houthi group to overthrow President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, a spokesman told Xinhua.

BAGHDAD — A total of 717 Iraqis were killed and 1,216 others injured in terrorist attacks and violence in September, the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said in a statement on Friday.

ABUJA — Fourteen people were killed and 39 others injured in devastating multiple blasts which rocked parts of Nigeria’s Maiduguri city, capital of the northeastern state of Borno late Thursday, the army said Friday.
