SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge based in San Francisco approved on Tuesday a settlement between Volkswagen AG (VW) and U.S. owners of cars made by the U.S. automaker with 2-liter diesel engines dating to 2009.
Under the terms of the settlement approved by Judge Charles Breyer of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, VW will spend up to 10.033 billion U.S. dollars to either buy the polluting vehicles with “defeat devices” back or fix them and compensate about 475,000 U.S. owners.(U.S-Volkswagen)

ISLAMABAD — One policeman was killed and 10 others were injured in two separate bomb blasts in different areas of Pakistan on Tuesday, local media and officials said.
