WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate voted 64-35 early Friday to pass a two-year budget bill that raises federal spending levels and expands the government’s debt limit.

The bill, already passed by the Congress earlier this week, now awaits to be signed into law by President Barack Obama no later than Nov. 3, for the Treasury Department would otherwise exhaust its borrowing capacity and could no longer fund the government’s payment obligations. (US-Budget)

ATHENS — Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras blasted the inadequate response of EU partners on Friday, as 21 refugees and migrants, including at least nine children, perished in the Aegean Sea and an as yet undetermined number were still reported missing.

KIEV — At least two people were killed and eight others were injured in a series of explosions taking place at an ammunition depot in eastern Ukraine late Thursday, authorities said Friday.

“Two people were confirmed dead. Four soldiers and four civilians were wounded and they are receiving medical treatment,” government military spokesman Ruslan Tkachuk said in a statement. (Ukraine-Blast)
