The Member Of Parliament for Akan Constituency in the Volta Region Hon. Joseph K. Ofori popularly known as OFA PA YE has been applauded by some residents living in the constituency base on the hard work and massive development he has been able to lobbied for the constituency within the shortest time he has been in office as their Member Of Parliament since 2008.

He is currently an Independent Candidate vying for a second term in office following a his defeat in a keenly contested election between him and is predecessor Hon. Gyapong Kwadwo the former Member of Parliament for the same constituency under the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.

He lost the primaries to Hon. Gyapong Kwadwo, and following what he describe as the best candidate for the area, he has decided to contest on an independent ticket to continue the works he has started in the constituency.

Most of the villages we visited during our four days tour in the constituency have a very serious problem considering the nature of roads. After being told that most of the youth have traveled outside the constituency to seek greener pastures, the very few who still live in the constituency have no option than to join their parents in their farms, whiles some of the youth who have just completed Junior High Schools have been enrolled in minor trades such as tailoring, hairdressing, mechanics, driving and farming.

Some of the villages we visited include, Appase, Dapaah, Cement, Dodo Tamale, Ampayo, Dodo Amanfro, Papase and Besie.

Some of the residents who spoke to The Moment from the area described the style of leadership being demonstrated by their hero ?OFA PA YE? as they affectionately call him in the area is very unique and that calls for the need for them to rally behind him as their member of parliament at this very crucial time.

Some of the residents the news team spoke to from the constituency demands that their hero must at all cost retain his seat as their Member of Parliament to continue the good works he has started.

When the paper call on the traditional leaders living in Pampeyo a village in the constituency, they told the news team that since the assumption of Joseph K. Ofori, they have received 10 packets of roofing sheets to help them continue a project they started in the community.

Despite all the series of positive testimonies given at the constituency when the news team visited them to find out their views and opinions about their Member Of Parliament we decided to call on the hon. Joseph K. Ofori to ascertain the truth of their testimonies.

Hon. Ofori said when he was assuming office as the Member of Parliament for the area, he actually promised his constituency that he will step into parliament and dig the necessary structures and development that the constituency needed to improve in their area.

?I have always loved to be a Member of Parliament because I am not selfish and it is in my nature to help people solve their burdens and trauma. That is the more reason why all the people you spoke to never said anything negative about me. I started helping these people when I was an ordinary transport owner and a lotto agent here in kadjebi?.

Some of the youth who were into agriculture also received agriculture equipment like, knapsacks, water pumps, etcetera and cutlasses to facilitate their work as a source of motivation to promote agriculture in the constituency.

Some of the projects have been initiated and started but most of them have not been completed as captured by our news team.

Currently the race for who will lead the constituency is currently an open race between the predecessor Hon. Gyapong Kwadjo who was their MP for 12 years and Hon. Ofa Pa Ye who is the incumbent Member of Parliament.
