The Oguaa Traditional Council has banned noise-making from August 6 to August 22, 2024, in preparation for the Fetu Afahye festival.
The festival, celebrated annually during the first week of September, honours a bountiful harvest and pays tribute to the 77 deities of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
The noise ban includes restrictions on loud wailing, mourning, and quarrelling within the traditional area.
Additionally, pounding fufu after 6 p.m. and playing drums or loud music are prohibited until September 21, 2024.
These measures are designed to maintain a serene and respectful atmosphere leading to the festival.
The Oguaa Traditional Council aims to create a peaceful environment to enhance the spiritual and communal significance of the Fetu Afahye celebrations.
