The Okuapemhene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, has endorsed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) for his humility and dedication.

He is calling on Ghanaians to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the forthcoming general elections. His endorsement aims to consolidate the achievements of the current Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration into the anticipated Bawumia/Napo era.

During a courtesy visit by Dr. Prempeh on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his residence in Akropong, the traditional leader praised Dr. Prempeh’s respect for tradition and religion. Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III highlighted the significance of seeking the blessings and guidance of traditional and religious leaders as a mark of humility and commitment.

“I know you are humble, judging from your royal background. All we are looking for from you is to be forthright and candid in all your dealings,” the Okuapemhene stated. He emphasized that Dr. Prempeh’s role as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate is to support the presidential candidate and ensure success.

The Okuapemhene lauded President Akufo-Addo’s accomplishments and encouraged Dr. Prempeh and his team to communicate these achievements effectively to the public. He stressed that the scattered successes of the current administration need to be highlighted to garner widespread support for the NPP.

Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III also commended Dr Bawumia and Dr Prempeh’s initiative to integrate chieftaincy and religious leadership into national development. He noted that Dr Prempeh’s acknowledgement of traditional rulers’ contributions to Ghana’s independence and the establishment of the UP tradition reflects a deep respect for these institutions.

Dr. Prempeh acknowledged the pivotal role of traditional leaders in the country’s history and assured that, if elected, the NPP would further empower traditional leaders to play an active role in national development. He introduced parliamentary candidates for the Akuapem South, Akuapem North, and Okere constituencies and requested the Okuapemhene’s support for their campaigns.

Dr. Prempeh expressed gratitude for the traditional leader’s endorsement and reiterated his commitment to strengthening the role of traditional institutions in Ghana’s governance.
