Their efforts were recognised by the Volta Region students Association (VORSA), University of Ghana, Legon during their Handing over ceremony and Awards held last Saturday on campus.

Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho and Dr. C. K Boame, Senior Lecturer, UGBS were acknowledged for becoming a beckon of hope to students in the region.

The primary aim of VORSA is to pull students with diverse knowledge together to engage in activities in the Volta Region to enhance development.
It has over the years made head ways in Education, Socialisation, Entertainment and Membership drive.

The immediate past President, Amos Dela Yegbe during his speech after the handing over ceremony noted that education has being their main focus of attention because of the appalling nature of academic performance in the region.

In addressing the situation, VORSA in University of Ghana and Cape Coast University embarked on a pilot voluntary teaching exercise in Ho West constituency, the President underscored.

According to him, a seminar was held for members during his tenure to empower them on social issues.

With all the achievements, however, VORSA according to Dela Yegbe faced numerous challenges including funding and poor members turn out to activities.

He prayed the new leadership to up their game in keeping the fire lit in the association burning for them to achieve their aim.
Mr. Bedzrah reiterated the need for the leaders to build on the achievement by the immediate past leaders to a minimum level.

He counselled the students to have an entrepreneurial plan drawn before they leave school and cast away the ideology of leaning on government as the only source of hope for employment.
The new leadership promised to increase the membership, seek sponsorship for their activities and provide identification cards.
