Old Tafo beat Asokwa 4-1 in the finals to emerge winners of the 2022 MTN Ashantifest Community Soccer Talent held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday.

A hat-trick from youngster Ibrahim Wawudu and a goal from Richard Addai was all Old Tafo needed to beat their opponent, whiles Evans Safo managed to pull a consolation goal for his side.

Both sides played well, but it was Old Tafo who engineered the game with their master play to put the game to bed, as they left a mark on the walls of Baba Yara with their win.

For the victory, Old Tafo received an amount of GHC 20,000, gold medals, airtime as well as an appearance fee of GHC1000 whiles Asokwa, bagged GHC10,000, silver medals, airtime and an appearance fee of GHC1000 as runner up.

In the third and fourth place match, Tech defeated Dichemso 2-1 to walk away with the third placed prize of GHC5,000, silver medals, airtime and an appearance fee of GHC1000.

Speaking to the media after the match, Mr. Nii Adotey Mingle, the General Manager of the Northern Business District for MTN commended participants for the enthusiasm shown as the tournament keeps improving year after year.

According to him, MTN has plans of improving the standards of the tournament and also to make it more attractive.

“We look forward to involving more communities and make the event more popular to help unearth talents for the National teams and the Premier League,” he said.

He said MTN had a target of making the tournament popular like the Kwahu Easter Festival.

Mr. Mingle congratulated Issaka Konda who was adjudged as the best player of the tournament.
