Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reaffirmed the party’s dedication to advancing the quality of education in Ghana.
Speaking at the Meko Bono Festival in Techiman, Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the NDC’s commitment to overhauling the free education policy and eliminating the double-track system.
Additionally, she highlighted plans to establish new tertiary educational institutions in emerging regions.
The festival, which celebrates the cultural heritage and unity of the Bono people, provided a platform for Opoku-Agyemang to represent former President John Dramani Mahama.
She was joined by Mrs Lordina Mahama, former government officials, and parliamentary candidates.
Opoku-Agyemang assured attendees that the NDC is focused on providing sustainable employment opportunities for the youth, with a particular emphasis on vocational and technical training.
She stressed that peace and unity are built on justice and respect for all individuals and reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to ensuring peaceful elections.
She also addressed the issue of character defamation, urging individuals to refrain from undermining others’ reputations.
“Time and posterity will always vindicate the clean and righteous,” she asserted.
Opoku-Agyemang commended the Chiefs and people of Bono for their contributions to Ghana’s development and for organizing the festival, which traditional leaders and community members from various backgrounds attended.
She described the event as a celebration of the rich cultural diversity of Ghana, underscoring the significance of the Bono people’s heritage.
The NDC running mate’s address underscored the party’s focus on educational reform and community development as critical pillars of their campaign platform.
