Despite infamous public battles with daughter Lindsay, Michael Lohan is no longer estranged from her and admits that after six attempts at rehab and six arrests, this is Lindsay?s best chance at rebuilding her life. In an exclusive interview in this week?s?In Touch, Michael speaks out about why this time is different for Lindsay, 27, and how their family is ready and willing to be her strongest support system yet.
Rule No. 1 for successfully readjusting to life post-rehab? Not allowing bad influences back into Lindsay?s life. ?That?s not gonna happen, especially with Michael Jr. around, and certainly not with me around,? Lindsay?s father, who is a spokesman and interventionist at The Lukens Institute, tells? In Touch, adding, ?Michael and [sister] Ali are like pit bulls.”
Michael also confirms to?In Touch?that Lindsay?s mom, Dina, is still very much in Lindsay?s life. ‘”Lindsay is talking to Dina ? it?s her mother. Dina was never even brought up as someone that could be cut out of her life,? Michael says of the list Lindsay created in rehab with the help of her therapist. ?She needs her mother, it?s a full support system ? and she needs everyone there for her.”
Hopeful that Lindsay will stay sober, Michael has faith that since joining forces with Oprah Winfrey for her own docuseries, Lindsay is taking control of her life in front of the camera. ?When Lindsay was in her addiction, she was listening to what other people said,? Michael explains, ?Now she?s saying, ?This is my own life and I?m going to live it the way I want.??
