Mrs Faith Amedzake, Eastern Regional Director for Electoral Commission has disclosed that 1,644,774 voters will take part in this year’s general elections.

Out of the figure, 7,893 are taking part in the special voting underway today in all designated voting centres across the 33 constituencies in the region.

Speaking in an interview with GNA, she noted that all logistics needed for the elections such as the ballot papers, Biometric Verification Device (BVD), thumbprint marks, ballot boxes, and all necessities were adequate as well as observing the COVID-19 prevention protocols.

She urged the media to educate the public on the need to observe all the safety prevention protocols at the polling centre and urged the media to discharge their duties with professionalism to ensure a peaceful election before, during and after December 7.
