Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed that he picked up an injury in just the second minute of the Gunners’ Champions clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
The German was replaced at half-time of the fixture, and came in for criticism for what was another lethargic performance.
However, Ozil has now confirmed that he was playing with an injury.
The 25-year-old wrote on his Facebook page:
‘Dear friends, now it’s clear: during the #ucl match against #FCBayern I suffered a muscle injury in the second minute. I tried to give my best and played until the end of the first half. Rest assured that I’ll be back even stronger!’
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that Ozil could face a spell on the sidelines.
“He’s out. I don’t know for how long but it is a hamstring injury. There are scans going on,” Wenger told the club’s official website.
