A circuit court at Akim Swedru has imposed a fine of 240 Ghana cedis on Kofi Sarfo, a palm wine tapper, for stealing a goat valued 150 Ghana Cedis, property of Mr. Yaw Acheampong, a revenue collector.

Sarfo pleaded guilty and would go to prison for six months in hard labour, failure to pay the fine.

The court presided over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sarmpong, also ordered Sarfo to pay 150 Ghana Cedis, being the cost of the goat.

Police Detective Inspector Kwaku Appiah said the complainant, Mr. Acheampong, lives at Akim Oda, while the convict lives at Larbi-Krom.

Detective Inspector Appiah said Mr. Acheampong entrusted a she goat to the care of his friend at Larbi-Krom and that within few weeks the animal got lost.

He said when the complainant’s friend informed him, the two conducted intensive investigations which revealed that it was Sarfo who stole the goat.

He said investigations revealed that Sarfo, after stealing the goat, took it to his farm and slaughtered it. GNA
