Accra, Jan. 20, GNA – Reverend Dr Benhardt Yemo Quarshie, Rector of Akrofie-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission and Culture, said spiritual gifts from God are not meant for self glorification but for the service of His people and the glory of His name.?The workings of God are for the glory of God and not for human beings,? he said.Rev. Quarshie said this on Sunday when he spoke on the theme: ?Building the Spiritual You? at the 20th Anniversary Launch service of the Victory Congregation, Frafraha District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG).He commended the congregation for living a life of spiritual implications of God in the community over the past 20 years.?Your life is a similar message to the word of God which needs to be projected into congregations as a whole,? he said.He prayed that God strengthened the church to be an outstanding example to all Presbyterian churches in the years to come.Mr Kwadwo Appiah Boadu, first elected Senior Presbyter of the church, said the Victory Congregation started with the Ga Presbytery Bible Study and Prayer Group (BSPG) Convention held at the Presbyterian Boys Secondary School, Legon, in 1993.?The Adentan SSNIT flats (Aprotech Community) had earlier been identified by the Madina Branch of the BSPG as a fertile ground for the planting of a church.Consequently, under the supervision of Adentan Christ Congregation, the Victory congregation was born as a Preaching Post on Sunday, January 17, 1993 with 12 adults but today could boast of 1,500 members.Funds were raised in aid of building a business centre for the church and the community as a whole. The business centre would serve as an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre to train people with no ICT knowledge and create employment for the youth.Programmes to mark the 20th anniversary include Kidd-fest, father-fest, mother-fest, revival, excursions, play shows by Roverman Productions and photo exhibitions depicting the history of the church, to be organized from now to December. It would be climaxed by the inauguration of the business centre in December.GNA
