Deliberates on how to emerge victorious in forthcoming elections
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has announced the inauguration of a seven-man committee for the Ondo State governorship election.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Tukur said: “We gathered here to rub minds on how to tackle the challenge the party will likely face during the governorship election in Ondo State.”
He added that no member of the party would run for election and fail, no matter the terrain, because that PDP was ready to find a lasting solution to the problems of internal democracy.
Also speaking, PDP’s National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha said that the party’s stakeholders in Ondo converged in Abuja to deliberate on how to emerge victorious on October 20.
He said that the stakeholders discussed issues concerning the poll “thoroughly, critically, objectively and with the decency they deserved.”
“We believe we are on the right path; we believe Ondo State is for PDP and we will reclaim our victory,” Mustapha said.
The National Organising Secretary added that the seven-member committee was set up by the national chairman based on the advice of the National Working Committee.
The members of the committee include Dr. Olusegun Agagu; Senator Bode Olajumoke; Chief Segun Adegoke; Dr. Ola Oni and Mobolaji Oshomo, among others.
He said that the committee had one week to submit a report on the way forward, and urged all the supporters of the party to be law-abiding and peaceful while events unfolded.
“With the agenda set up by the leader of the party, President Goodluck Jonathan, we are sure of victory,” he said.
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate, Olusola Oke, said: “We are encouraged by the resolution of the leadership of the party to give the necessary support to the party’s chapter in Ondo state.
“We are particularly satisfied that the National Working Committee clarified all issues and assured us of maximum support.”
