The National Peasant Farmers Association has expressed concern after reporting that 80% of its members have been excluded from the second phase of the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) initiative.

According to the Association, farm inputs and necessary logistics have yet to reach most of its members despite the onset of the rainy season.

Wepia Awal Addo, the Association’s national president, appealed to Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Agriculture, for urgent intervention.

“By June, it was evident that 80% of our farmers had not been registered, and their farms had not been mapped. This is troubling because many farmers have already begun planting and require inputs to ensure successful cultivation,” Addo emphasized.

The exclusion has heightened anxiety among association members who rely on the PFJ program to enhance agricultural productivity and livelihoods.

Efforts to reach the Ministry of Agriculture for comment on the situation were ongoing at the time of reporting.

The PFJ initiative, aimed at boosting food production and ensuring food security, has faced scrutiny in previous phases over distribution delays and inclusivity concerns among smallholder farmers across Ghana.
