The president of the judges hearing the election petition case at the Supreme Court , Justice William Atuguba has ordered that audit firm, KPMG to compare the results of their audit of the pink sheets with his personal copies.
KPMG was asked by the court to audit the pink sheets submitted as evidence by the petitioners challenging the outcome of the 2012 presidential elections when lawyers for the respondents alleged that they had received less than the number the petitioners claim they submitted.
The petitioners claim they submitted a total of 11,842 pink sheets to the court?s registry but the respondents say they received only 8,042.
The petitioners had raised doubts over the court?s earlier directive but Justice Atuguba clarified saying ?it is therefore ordered that for the avoidance of doubt in line with the consent agreement reached over the modalities for the count of pink sheets with the parties counseled in the chamber. On 9th May 2013 that the referees do use the set of exhibits of pink sheet of the presiding justice of this panel to cross check and finalize his count of the said pink sheet.?
