The increment is to take effective today, Monday January 4, 2016.
This was as a result of the passage of the Energy Sector Levy by Parliament last December.
Now, a gallon of petrol at some fuel stations sells at about Ghc15.40 and 15. 80 pesewas and diesel is being sold for Ghc14.50 and 14. 60 pesewas.
Parliament of Ghana had on Monday, December 21 passed the Energy Sector Levy which was introduced to the House by the Finance Minister.
Two days after its introduction, the Levy was passed.
However, there are some level of controversies at to how much drivers would have to take considering the recent hike in fuel prices. Drivers have however threatened to increase lorry fares to commensurate the increase in fuel prices.
