Pharmatrust Company Limited, a pharmaceutical company, has presented assorted items, including alcohol-based hand sanitizers, Veronica buckets and googles to the Pharmaceutical Council to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Anthony Kwame Adjepong, the Chief Executive Officer of Pharmatrust, presented the items to the Registrar of the Pharmaceutical Council at a brief ceremony in Accra.
Dr Audu Rauf, the Registrar of the Pharmaceutical Council, received the items on behalf of the Council.
In receiving the items, Dr Rauf admitted that the world today is facing new realities and disruption to healthcare professionals worldwide due to the COVID 19 outbreak.
He said the world more than ever is in dire need of creative and innovative minds; and this requires international cooperation to address the pandemic.
“Obviously, the novel SARS CoV-2, which is causing the disease termed as COVID 19 is putting an unprecedented pressure on social, health and economic systems across the globe.
“Therefore this gesture has really come at an opportune time to respond favourably to the tall list of requests on Pharmacy Council,” Dr Rauf said.
Dr Rauf expressed his appreciation to Mr Adjepong for the kind gesture and thanked Pharmatrust workforce for their sacrifices in this crisis.
The Registrar advised all pharmacists and pharmaceutical settings to stock and dispense only alcohol-based hand sanitizers approved by the Food and Trust Authority (FDA).
