Phoenix Life Assurance Sponsors GWF Media Seminar

Phoenix Life Assurance, is set to partner The Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) for the maiden Media Seminar, scheduled for Friday June 24, at the Accra Sports Stadium.


The seminar dubbed ‘Phoenix Life Weightlifting Media Seminar’ is aimed at bringing Sports Journalists from various media houses in the country to enlighten them on their role in and impact on sports development in the country, sports branding, and the technical and competition rules/regulations (TCRR) in Weightlifting.

Ghana Weightlifting FederationWeightlifting, has gained popularity in Ghana in recent times, due to performance of athletes at international games and the professional structures are being put in place for a sustainable growth of the sport.

The event would lecture Journalists on delivering accurate reportage and dissemination of information on issues concerning the discipline.

Resource Persons for the event include Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare who is a patron of the GWF, a Veteran Journalist and Sports Broadcaster and currently a Lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

He will present a paper on the topic ‘The Impact of Ghanaian Sports Journalists on Sports Development in Ghana.’

Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the GWF, who holds an Executive MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana, would also deliver a paper on ‘Sports Branding in Ghana-The Cricket and Weightlifting Experience.’

Also on the bill is Mr Husseini Akueteh Addy, the Secretary General of the GWF, an experienced Sports Administrator from the National Sports Authority (NSA), with International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) certificate in Anti-Doping and TCRR would make a presentation on Technical and Competition Rules/ Regulations in Weightlifting.

The seminar will draw participation from about 75 journalists from the leading media houses registered to participate in the seminar, which will be an annual event on GWF’s calendar.

The Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Vincent Oppong Asamoah and Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr Joe Kpenge are expected to officially open the seminar.
